Gwen Marcus

Gwen Marcus

Known as a child prodigy, Gwen Marcus began creating her first sculptures at the age of nine. Praised for her accuracy and sensitivity toward the human form, Marcus intends for her pieces, whether of a nude leaning over the water’s edge or a woman carrying a basket, to exude strength, energy, spirituality and sensuality.  Each of her works tells a unique story to the viewer.

Marcus is the recipient of many awards and honors including Gold Medals of Honor from the Allied Artists of America, The American Artists Professional League (a five-time recipient), Audubon Artist (two-time recipient), the Hudson Valley Art Association, The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (two-time recipient) as well as The Centennial Medal of Honor, and awarded a Certificate of Merit from the National Academy of Design.

Marcus is also a Fellow and served on the board of directors of the National Sculpture Society and is a Signature member of American Artists Professional League. She is an Associate with Distinction at The American Women Artists Organization and holds memberships with Allied Artists of America and The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
